3. Caplin Steriles, a Subsidiary of Caplin Point Laboratories, has been granted final approval from the USFDA for its ANDA Phenylephrine hydrochloride Ophthalmic Solution USP 2.5% and 10% (eye drops), a generic therapeutic equivalent version of the Reference Listed Drug, from Alcon Research LLC

Relative Strength Line - A Simple, Yet Effective Stock Indicator

The relative strength (RS) line is a straightforward, yet critical tool for assessing how a stock is performing relative to the general market. It serves an important role in identifying winning stocks by comparing their price performance to a market index.

How the Relative Strength Line Works

The line measures the price performance of a stock and compares it to the Index. When shares outperform the Index, the line trends higher. When shares lag the Index, the line trends lower. Because it compares stocks to the broad market, the RS line is great at identifying true leaders. When a leading stock climbs above a buy point, it's bullish if the RS line also makes a new high. In fact, if the line makes new highs before the breakout, that's especially Savory. In a slumping stock market, the relative strength line is especially helpful in making an early identification of emerging leaders — often those that lead the next market uptrend.

Putting The RS Line To Use

Breakouts

You'd like to see a relative strength line making new highs as a stock breaks out, or even before a breakout. That's ideal. Sometimes, such as when a stock makes a big move out of a deep base, the RS line is not actually seizing new highs at the breakout. But the direction — particularly before the breakout — can be an important indicator, corroborating the strength of a stock as you prepare to make an initial buy.

Topping Behavior

After a lengthy rally, a stock may send some topping signals, such as a break below its 10-week moving average in heavy trade. These can be signals to lock in profits. How does the RS line look? Relative strength will often begin to break down before the actual stock price, or simply fall into a lull below its highs. If it is holding near highs, which shows the stock outperforming or holding its own against the market, you may want to wait for additional signals before trimming too much of your position.
